Best Walt Disney World Resorts for Couples

Walt Disney World offers a large variety of on-site resorts with lots of extra benefits for guests visiting the parks. While Walt Disney World is traditionally thought of as a destination for families with children, it’s far more than that, and is also a popular place to visit for adults, especially couples. If you’re looking for the best Walt Disney World resorts for couples, these are my top picks.

Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside

This moderate resort is quite popular, and for good reason. It has a lovely southern bayou theme, with beautiful manor home-style buildings. The resort has solid dining options and boat access to the nearby Disney Springs. You may also want to consider Riverside’s sister resort, French Quarter. The two resorts are easy walking distance from each other. French Quarter features a New Orleans during Mardi Gras theme, and the layout is a bit more compact than Riverside. You'll consistently see these resorts ranked as the best Walt Disney World resorts for couples.

Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort

I’m always surprised no one talks about this resort more. We’ve always loved it – it’s a nice retreat after a long day at the parks. The theme is a southwestern/Mexican combination. The rooms feature lots of dark woods with turquoise accents. The dining options here are quite good, and there’s also a nice outdoor bar with a view of the resort’s lake. The resort has a convention center, so it has many more suite options than other moderate resorts. There are multiple bus stops within the resort, but we found the system here quite efficient and easy to navigate.

Disney’s Boardwalk Inn

If you want to be close to the action, Disney’s Boardwalk Inn is an excellent choice. This Atlantic seaside-themed resort is set on a boardwalk, which has games and entertainers in the evenings. It’s also walking distance from Epcot, and a slightly longer walk to Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You can also take the boat to either of those parks. It’s also easy to walk to the nearby Disney’s Beach Club and Disney’s Yacht Club Resorts (and their dining options). Those two resorts are also good choices for couples.

Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

This resort is a great choice if you want to feel like you’re really getting away from the hustle and bustle when you go back to your resort. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge is located a little farther from the parks than other deluxe resorts. But, it offers gorgeous theming and views of a savannah of African animals. This resort also has some of the most unique dining options on property, including lots of Indian and African-inspired flavors.

Walt Disney World has plenty of Star Wars-related fun for guests, and you can find it all at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Check out the best of Walt Disney World for Star Wars fans.
