A Virtual Vacation to Ireland

Feeling a little stir crazy and need to "get away" for a little while, even if just in your imagination? I have the answer for you - let's spend a virtual day on vacation! Join me for a day exploring the beauty of Ireland.

First of all, let's get ready for our virtual vacation to Ireland! Here's a playlist to set the tone for the day.

We must start our day in Ireland with a full Irish breakfast! Although the makeup of the breakfast can vary, all full Irish breakfasts include some or all of the following: Bacon, sausages, baked beans, eggs, mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, and perhaps some cooked leftover potatoes made into a hash or a bubble and squeak. There will also be toast, butter, marmalade, and lots of tea to drink. Let's get cooking!

We will begin our day in the capital city, Dublin! This beautiful city is warm and friendly and feels more like a cozy village than a bustling metropolis. Take a look at the Top 10 things to do in Dublin!

Do you love history? Then, you will want to discover the east of Ireland. With over 5,000 years of history, this part of Ireland will captivate you.

Lunchtime! There is so much more to Irish food than stew. Check out the top 10 foods to try on your visit to Ireland.

Ireland's east coast is steeped in history. Ireland's west coast is known as the Wild Atlantic Way. Discover the beauty and power of this majestic landscape!

No visit to the Wild Atlantic Way would be complete without a stop in Galway! The vibrant arts and culture scene is not to be missed!

Who's thirsty? We're in Ireland so the only thing to do is stop for a pint of Guinness! This brew was first crafted by Arthur Guinness in 1752. Pouring the perfect Guinness draught is a true art form! For you American drinkers, don't expect this beer to be ice cold. It's served at 42.8 degrees Fahrenheit.

It's time to venture into Northern Ireland and the city of Derry-Londonderry. This historic city is the fourth-largest city on the island of Ireland and the second-largest city in Northern Ireland. This walled city is vibrant and modern with a cutting-edge food scene, an exciting cultural life and a pretty impressive ability to enjoy life.

The last stop on our tour will be to Belfast. The home of the Titanic, Belfast is a beautiful city steeped in history and lore. Join us on a visit!

And so, our virtual trip to Ireland comes to an end. I leave you with one of my favorite Irish songs ever. Sláinte!
