What made you fall in love with travel?
I’ve been a traveler for as long as I can remember—literally! My first vacation was at just 6 weeks old, and my parents made sure that my sister and I traveled every year. Most of the time it was an annual beach trip, but we had the chance to experience so much more along the way.
One of my earliest and most vivid travel memories was visiting Disneyland when I was 5 years old. That trip sparked a love of Disney that stayed with me and led to many more visits to Walt Disney World over the years. That passion eventually inspired me to become a Travel Advisor in 2016. Now, I get to help others create those same magical memories—and that’s truly the best part of my job.
What's the biggest mistake you see travelers make?
One of the biggest mistakes I see travelers make is waiting too long to book—especially for cruises or all-inclusive resorts during peak seasons. Many people assume prices will drop or that there will always be plenty of availability, but in reality, the best rates and room or cabin options often go to those who book early.
Instead, I encourage my clients to book forward to travel—secure the vacation they really want, then make payments over time if needed. This not only locks in better pricing but also gives them the widest choice of options for staterooms, resorts, and flights. Planning ahead takes the stress out of vacation prep and usually saves money in the long run!
What is one trip you think everyone should take in their life?
I think everyone should experience an ocean or river cruise at least once. Cruising is such a unique way to travel—you get to unpack once, yet visit multiple destinations in one vacation. Whether you're sailing through the Caribbean or exploring the rivers of Europe, it’s the perfect way to sample several places and see what speaks to you.
So many of my clients (myself included!) have discovered favorite islands or cities during a cruise—places they loved so much, they went back for a longer stay. Cruising opens the door to destinations you might not have considered otherwise, and that’s what makes it such an unforgettable experience.
What's one item you can't imagine traveling without?
My portable phone charger is an absolute must! Between taking photos, checking flight details, using maps, or staying in touch with clients and family, my phone gets a serious workout when I travel. Having a charger in my bag means I’m never scrambling for an outlet at the airport—or missing a great photo because my battery’s dead. It’s a simple item, but it saves so much stress!
What's your idea of the perfect vacation?
For me, the perfect vacation is all about discovering somewhere new! I love visiting destinations I haven’t been to before—whether it's a small town in Europe or an island in the Caribbean. I’m all about the experiences: trying local foods, wandering markets, soaking up the culture, and finding that perfect souvenir to remember the trip by.
While I definitely appreciate a little downtime, I travel for the memories—not just the relaxation. Give me a day filled with new sights, great meals, and a unique keepsake to take home, and I’m one happy traveler!
One of my favorite memories is a stop in Vienna, Austria last year on my Viking River Cruise. I was able to experience a Christmas Market and purchase a beautiful ornament and I was able to dine at a local cafe for lunch that had been suggested by our tour guide. It was a beautiful city and the memories will last a lifetime!
What's the #1 thing you wish more people knew about planning a trip?
I wish more people knew how much a travel advisor can truly add to the experience—before, during, and after the trip. Planning a vacation isn’t just about picking a hotel or booking a flight. I help match my clients with the right cruise, resort, or itinerary based on what they want out of their vacation.
I take care of the details—finding the best options for their budget, tracking promotions, arranging transfers, excursions, travel insurance, and more. And if something goes wrong while they’re away, they have someone to call who’s in their corner.
Travel should be exciting, not overwhelming. Having someone knowledgeable to guide you through it makes all the difference!
