Disney Bounding -- Bounding On A Budget

I am ridiculously excited about my Disney Bounding adventure! I chose my characters and immediately started a Pinterest board so I could gather all my ideas together. It looks awesome! I actually made a spreadsheet of outfits for each character (one for daytime and one for dinner) and then I started shopping...YIKES! Those cute outfits really begin to add up. Reality reared its ugly head. I needed to figure out a way to Disney Bound on a budget. Luckily, that turned out to be easier than I was expecting! Here are my tips for looking awesome without breaking the bank:

  1. Choose characters with similar color palettes. If you are bounding for an entire trip like I am, choosing characters with similar color schemes will allow to you reuse items. For me, this meant Maleficent and Dr. Facilier (purple and black), Hades and Elisa (blue, gray/silver) and Jack Skellington (black and white). With these choices, I can use several items over and over.

  2. Choose colors you already wear. After completing Todd Herman's 90-Day Year course, I only wear blue, black, purple and grey (limiting your choices is very freeing, you should try it). The characters I chose all fall withing that color scheme. This is helpful in two ways: 1. I already have things in my closet I can use to Bound and 2. anything I buy can just be worn as everyday clothes after I'm done Bounding.

  3. Consignment stores are your friend. Between Thred Up (an awesome online consignment shop), eBay and our local consignment stores, I was able to find everything I needed at very reasonable prices.

  4. Keep it simple. It's easy to get caught up in all the adorable options on sites like DisneyBound. Remember, though, that you don't need every accessory to make a really cute Disney Bounding outfit. The concept is about being inspired by the colors and iconic symbols of each character, not about copying a look exactly.

In the end, you could spend a fortune Disney Bounding, but you don't have to do so. Instead, use what you have, buy things you can use again, shop consignment stores and keep your ideas simple and you can have fun and stay on budget!

Next time, join me as I go through my closet to find Bounding options!

See ya real soon!
