5 Travel Myths That Need to Go

Today felt like a good day to bust a few travel myths… because some of these just won’t go away.
And honestly? A few of them can cost you money or lead you down the wrong path when planning a trip.
Let’s clear them up.
Myth #1: Booking flights on Tuesday saves money
I still hear this all the time.
Flight pricing doesn’t work like that anymore. Prices change constantly—based on demand, seats left, competition… all of it.
There is no “cheap day” to book.
The better strategy: start watching early and book when the price looks good. Waiting for Tuesday isn’t a plan.
Myth #2: Last-minute deals are the way to go
Not anymore.
What I see now:
Higher prices
Worse flight options
Limited resort and cruise availability
Booking early almost always wins.
Myth #3: Using a travel advisor costs more
This one stops people from getting help they actually need.
I don’t add random fees just because you book through me. And in many cases, I have access to:
Better pricing
Added perks
Exclusive offers
I’m also not steering you somewhere because it pays more. I’m matching you to the right trip for you. That’s the whole job.
Myth #4: River cruises are for “older” travelers
This one is outdated.
River cruising is one of the easiest ways to see Europe:
Unpack once
Tours included
Dock right in the middle of cities like Vienna, Budapest, and Paris
When you add up hotels, trains, transfers, and tours… it often makes more sense than piecing it together yourself.
Myth #5: Tourist attractions aren’t worth it
I hear this one a lot—“I want to travel like a local.”
Here’s the truth:There’s a reason people go to the Eiffel Tower, the Colosseum, and Stonehenge.
They’re worth seeing.
You’re a tourist. Go see the big stuff.
At the end of the day, good travel planning isn’t about hacks.
It’s about:
Timing
Experience
Knowing how everything fits together
Don't let travel myths hold you hostage.
